Spring is here! We finally made it, but you wouldn't have known it at the track meet last night. Yes, last night was Sid's first meet and it was a chilly one. It was in the upper 40's, cloudy and windy. The sad part? I have nobody to blame but myself. I brought back the cold weather so go ahead and yell at me. How? I got excited when we were having those 70 degree days and I made the mistake of moving all of my winter clothes out of the closet and puttting my Spring/Summer ones in. I did it and now I'm sorry. According to The Weather Channel, though, the cold stuff is over and the 70's will be back today.... to stay.
Sid's friend Jesse is on the track

team this year. Last year she played softball, but since the coach transferred to a different school over the summer the interest faded and she moved over to track. For those who have been keeping up with Sid's friends,
this is "pony" Jesse (because she has a horse), not to be confused with "neighbor" Jessie who used to live next door.

Anyway, the meet lasted 2 very long, cold hours with Sid and Jesse both running the 800m towards the end of it. Sid wasn't happy finishing 4th, but it was VERY cold (she was covered with goose bumps) and her leg muscles were tight. Their school ended up winning the meet.
Alyssa still does her running on Tuesdays with Hayley. They are getting excited about the final race on May 19th, hoping it's warmer than Sid's meet last night. I asked her if she wanted to do Track when she makes it to 7th grade, but she said "no". She wants to play volleyball. Good! I get to stay INSIDE to watch that sport. I know at one point the girls will both have sporting events going on at the same time. It will be fun trying to be in two places at the same time!
All of the kids in Lys's class

have to write a short book, any kind they want. One kid is writing about a kid playing baseball, one girl is writing about a girl wanting to grow up to be an actress, one kid is writing about a girl and her family going on vacation to the beach. What does my adorable little child chose? Horror. I just laughed, and I guess I can't fault her. I used to read all of Stephen King's books and Dean Koontz, but I don't remember reading them in 5th grade. Anyway, they are supposed to be "publishing" them at school and she asked me if I could take her picture. She told me that they are having a page dedicated to the author and they needed to bring in a picture of themselves looking very author-like. I scrunched my eyebrows and asked her what she wanted it to look like and she told me. This is what we ended up with. Doesn't she look old? I know I keep saying that, but gosh...when did my baby grow up?!?!?!
OK, this will be a short one (yea!) because I have to go to work. The Furniture Market is arriving (our city's big convention) and I get to work lots of extra hours. Wish me luck!
Have a great week,
Amy and the girls
